   The only people who say that are usually people who don’t realize that Africa is a continent of many countries and ethnic groups. Sad to say, but of all black people, I find black americans to be one of the worst with this mind set. We have been so programmed and brainwashed to the point that I really don’t think that most of us know the diversity of African features.

   What is too black? Obviously you find her color as a negative NOT REALIZING THAT THE BEAUTY OF IS WHAT MADE HER FAMOUS. Don’t you wish someone was wanting to photograph you and put you in $50,000 gowns on the most prestigious runways in the world. That comment is insulting but I’m sure SHE couldn’t care less when she deposits those insane checks into her bank account and is wined and dined by her suitors in Europe. How about you focus on paying your car note! lol.. bills bills bills lol

    i hate it when people say that alek wek has typical african features. my question is what is typical african features, you have many faces in africa and among them is the typical alek wek types and also liya kebede who hail from ethiopia, and also oguchi onyewu that originally comes from nigeria. in other words, africa has many faces, and one type do not represent the entire african continent.

    im sorry Black is beautiful but this chick is purple as hell btw she looks like the nigerian store clerk down the street…….super models are not attractiv at all

    I am from the Caribbean and traditionally we are groomed and raised to honour lighter skin and european features. So it is no surprise that I also idolized such. One day I saw Alek Wek at a cafe in central London, and all that changed. She is radiant, a beautiful dark skinned goddess.

    Amen, no doubt this is the work of God and the work of God, in any form is beautiful. Models don’t just represent custom and trend, they represent the rare and fleeting. We only appreciate these things, when they are not there. So, God, he knew what to do, for what reason, and in what way. God Bless her — she is also a very wise girl.

    Alex Wek is a creation of God. Those of you who call her ugly are criticising God. Mankind put up these artificial barriers of what is beautiful and what is not!! Man is imperfect. If you have a problem w/how she looks then take it up w/God. P.S. Let me know what He said.

    You’re absolutely right, Christian. Alek is a replica of our ancestors. She is regal. I love my dark skin.
